Here's everything you can expect in Update 7.4.
Download Optimization
Update 7.4 includes a major optimization of the game’s download process, designed to improve the overall game experience for both new and existing players. As the game continues to expand with each update, download sizes have increased, potentially impacting players with limited bandwidth or storage space. To address these challenges, we have implemented a new system that divides the game’s resources into separate packages, making downloads more efficient and manageable.
How Download Optimization Works
The download optimization system splits the game’s resources into two main packages: the Initial Package and the Ship Package. This approach ensures that players only download essential files up front and can access additional content as needed.
- Initial Package
- Contents: The Initial Package contains all the core game resources necessary to run the game and includes all ships required for the new player tutorial. It also includes warship guns and other critical assets needed to get started.
- Download Source: Players will download the Initial Package directly from the Google Play Store.
- Benefits: This package allows new players to begin playing the tutorial without downloading the entire game, reducing initial download times and making it easier to get started.
- Ship Package
- Contents: The Ship Package includes models, textures, collisions, and camouflages for all ships, except those included in the Initial Package. This package must be downloaded in the game after logging in.
- Download Trigger: The Ship Package download begins automatically after players log in and reach Level 3. At this point, a download UI will inform players that they need to download the Ship Package to unlock all game features.
Download Process for New Players
- When a new player enters the game, the system will automatically start downloading the Ship Package during the first battle tutorial. The download UI will not appear until the player reaches Level 3.
- After reaching Level 3, players must complete the download of the Ship Package to access all game features. This process ensures that new players have a smooth introduction to the game without being overwhelmed by large downloads immediately.
Download Process for Existing Players
- Existing players who log in after reaching Level 3 will have some game features restricted until the Ship Package is fully downloaded. Restricted features include matchmaking, certain game modes, and the ability to enter team battles.
- A message will appear in the game interface, indicating that some features are limited due to incomplete downloads. Ships that haven't been downloaded will be displayed as general icons in the Port and Tech Tree, and these ships will also appear as unified models in the Armory.
Download Rules and Settings
- Wi-Fi Detection: After Level 3, the game will detect the player’s network environment. If connected to Wi-Fi, the download will proceed automatically. If using mobile data, a pop-up notification will appear, allowing players to choose whether to continue downloading.
- Mobile Data Use: The system will pause downloads if the network environment changes from Wi-Fi to mobile data, but players can choose to allow downloads using mobile data. The download can be resumed manually or automatically resume when reconnected to Wi-Fi.
Download Interface and Priority
- A download prompt will be displayed in the upper-right corner of the interface once players reach Level 3. Tapping the download button will open the download list, showing the status and progress of ongoing downloads.
- Download Priority:
- Tier I–IV ships
- Currently selected ship
- Other ships owned by the player in the Port
- Remaining ships, downloaded in order of ship type
This prioritization ensures that players can quickly access the most critical game elements and begin exploring the game’s full content as efficiently as possible.
Introducing the Superships event
In this update, we're introducing a brand-new type of event featuring Superships, a new tier of powerful ships, equivalent to Tier XI, offering players the opportunity to command the most formidable vessels in the game. These ships are available exclusively during a special event, and will be restricted outside of these event periods.
How to Access the Superships Event
At the start of the Superships event, players will receive a notification banner on their Port screen, indicating the timeline for the event. By tapping the "GO" button, players can navigate directly to a specific Tech Tree line with an available Supership.
- Tech Tree Integration: The Tech Tree icon will feature an emblem indicating that the Superships event is active. Nations with available Superships will be marked with a star icon. At the top of that nation’s tab, an info panel will display the event’s duration, allowing players to jump straight in.
Unlocking Superships
To unlock a Supership, players must complete two key steps:
- Research: Use Ship XP or Free XP to complete the research for the desired Supership.
- Purchase: Pay the required amount of Silver to unlock the ship for use.
Using Superships in Battle
After unlocking a Supership, players must exchange resources for usage to deploy the ship in battles. Successfully entering a battle with a Supership will consume one usage.
- Usage Limits: Players can exchange resources for a maximum of 10 usages per Supership. An auto-resupply function is available, allowing the game to automatically resupply usage upon entering battles.
- Trial Usages: During the event, players can earn Supership trial usage items through supporting events like Blitz Pass and Blitz Challenges. There are two types of trial usage items:
- Targeted Usage: Grants one trial usage for a specific Supership.
- Choice Box Usage: Allows the player to select which Supership they want to receive a trial usage for.
Trial Usage Benefits
Trial usages give players the chance to experience Superships without fully unlocking them. Even after a Supership is unlocked, trial usages can be stored and utilized in place of regular usages. Players can install equipment and assign Commanders to trial Superships at any time. These will be returned once the trial usage is depleted. Please keep in mind that any installed equipment will be sold at a certain ratio, and the spent currency will be returned. All assigned Commanders will return to the Barracks.
End of Event and Resource Return
When the Supership event ends, all players, regardless of whether they have unlocked Superships, will no longer be able to use Superships in battles. Resources will be refunded as follows:
- XP Refund: Any XP used to research a Supership will be converted to Free XP if the ship was not fully researched.
- Usage Refund: Any remaining usage will be converted back into Free XP and Silver.
- Equipment Refund: Any installed equipment will be sold and refunded at a specified ratio.
Matchmaking Rules
To maintain competitive integrity and balance in battles involving Superships, specific matchmaking rules have been established. These rules are designed to ensure that both teams have a fair chance of winning, even when powerful Superships are in play. Here’s how the matchmaking system handles Superships:
Basic Rules for Supership Matchmaking
- Equal Number of Superships
- Rule: Both sides in a battle must have the same number of Superships. This ensures that neither team has an overwhelming advantage due to a higher number of these powerful ships.
- Default Setting: By default, each team is allowed to have one Supership. This default can be modified based on event or player feedback.
- Type Flexibility
- Rule: While teams must have an equal number of Superships, the specific types of Superships do not need to be the same on both sides. This means that one team could have different types or models of Superships than the other, allowing for varied and strategic gameplay.
- Bot Inclusion
- Default Setting: The system is set to disable the addition of bots when Superships are present in the matchmaking pool. This is to ensure that the challenge remains between real players, maintaining the competitive and engaging nature of battles involving Superships.
By implementing these rules and configurations, we aim to provide a balanced and enjoyable experience for all players, even as powerful new Superships are introduced into the game. These measures ensure that battles remain fair and competitive, enhancing players' overall enjoyment while commanding these mighty vessels.
Commander System Upgrade: Talents
Introducing Commander Talents
We're bringing a significant enhancement to the Commander System by introducing Commander Talents. This new feature allows Commanders who have reached Level 13 to unlock powerful new abilities, offering greater customization and strategic depth to player rosters. Talents provide Commanders with specialized capabilities, making them more effective in battle and tailored to specific playstyles.
Unlocking Talents
Commander Talents are available to Commanders at Levels 13, 14, and 15. Once a Commander reaches Level 12, they begin to earn Commander Free XP, which can be used to unlock and upgrade these Talents. Here’s how the Talent system works:
- Leveling Up: Upon reaching Level 13, players can choose a Talent specification. This choice will determine the path for Talents at Levels 14 and 15. Once a specification is selected, it is locked in, and players can only learn Talents from that specification for subsequent levels.
- Talent Activation and Effects: Each Talent comes with specific activation requirements and provides unique enhancements when activated. During battles, when a Talent is triggered, players will see a special firework effect accompanied by a sound effect, indicating that the Talent is in play. This visual and auditory feedback helps players identify when their Talents are making an impact.
Using Commander Free XP
Commander Free XP is a new type of experience point, replacing the old Commander Elite XP. It offers more flexibility in upgrading and managing Commanders. Commander Free XP can be used to:
- Level Up Commanders: Apply Commander Free XP to raise the level of any Commander, unlocking new Talents and skills.
- Retrain Commanders: Quickly retrain Commanders to suit different ships or roles.
- Reset Skills and Talents: If players want to change a Commander's skill or Talent path, Commander Free XP can be used to reset these choices, allowing for new strategies and setups.
Transition to Commander Free XP
All previously earned Commander Elite XP has been automatically converted to Commander Free XP with the release of Update 7.4. This ensures that players can immediately take advantage of the new Talent system without any loss of progress.
Talent Reset Functionality
The Talent Reset function allows players to reset all learned Talents and skills, enabling a complete overhaul of a Commander’s abilities. This function provides flexibility for players to experiment with different Talent specifications and find the most effective combinations for their gameplay style.
Talent Wiki Page
To help players understand and utilize the new Talents, a dedicated Talent Wiki page has been added. This page provides detailed information about each Talent, its effects, and how to activate it, making it easier for players to plan their Commander's development.
New Techline Additions
American Tier VI aircraft carrier Princeton
The fourth USS Princeton (CVL-23) was a United States Navy Independence-class light aircraft carrier active in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. She was launched in 1942 and lost at the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944.
American Tier VIII aircraft carrier Yorktown
The Yorktown-class ships entered service between 1937 and 1941 as the first mass-produced aircraft carriers of special construction in the U.S. Navy. They were designed with the limitations of international naval armament agreements in mind, but despite this, the American designers skillfully crafted these 20,000-ton aircraft carriers to be swift, spacious, and well-equipped. During the first year of the war in the Pacific, ships of the Yorktown class, along with the Lexington-class carriers, constituted the primary strike force of the U.S. Navy.
American Tier X aircraft carrier Wasp
USS Wasp (CV/CVA/CVS-18) was one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the United States Navy. Wasp was commissioned in November 1943, and served in several campaigns in the Pacific Theater of Operations, earning eight battle stars. In her second career, she operated mainly in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Caribbean.
This Techline will be available in Early Access in late November.
New Premium Ships
British Tier IX battleship Scarlet Thunder
With her retro-futuristic design, Scarlet Thunder is an engineering marvel that embodies the latest technological advancements.
Italian Tier VIII aircraft carrier Aquila
Liner Roma was converted into an aircraft carrier during World War II. The ship's hull was extended, equipped with bulges, and a new bow section was grafted. The propulsion unit was redesigned using turbines and boilers from unfinished ships Cornelio Silla and Paolo Emilio, while 135 mm guns from unfinished ships of the Capitani Romani class were used as anti-mine weapons. The 80% complete aircraft carrier was captured by Germany. Aquila was damaged by Allied aviation and sank after being hit by Italian submarine saboteurs.
Japanese Tier VIII destroyer Amatsukaze
Amatsukaze was a Kagerō-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She took part in the capture of several key areas in the Philippines and Dutch East Indies, notably when she captured the port of Davao.
American Tier VIII destroyer Mayo
USS Mayo was a Benson-class destroyer in the United States Navy during World War II. Mayo joined the expanding Neutrality Patrol after shakedown and escorted Marines to Iceland in July 1941 as they took protective custody of that key island.
Pan-Asian Tier VIII destroyer Zhu Que
Zhu Que (the Vermilion Bird) is one of the Four Symbols in ancient Chinese mythology. It originated from celestial worship in ancient times and takes the shape of a red bird that symbolizes the sun, dwelling in the scorching heat of the southern lands.
Pan-Asian Tier IX battleship Xuan Wu
Xuan Wu (the Black Tortoise) is one of the Four Symbols in ancient Chinese mythology. It originated from celestial worship in ancient times and represents a divine being formed by the combination of a tortoise and a serpent, residing in the extreme cold of the northern regions.
French Tier VII Limited battleship Black Lyon
A battleship design created before the outbreak of World War I, representing an improvement on the previous Normandie class and carrying enhanced primary armament. The addition of the fourth main gun turret allowed the ship to deliver a unique 16-gun broadside salvo.
German Tier X Limited cruiser Black Hindenburg
This ship was developed from a series of German heavy cruisers. Unlike ships of preceding classes, she boasted an increased displacement and more powerful main battery guns.
British Tier X Limited battleship Black Conqueror
This ship was designed as a battleship with increased firepower on the basis of British experience in ship construction gained during World War II. The project was notable for the 419 mm main guns, which were developed in the early 1920s and were the most powerful British naval artillery systems.
Japanese battleship Satsuma (Supership)
A further development of the Design A-150 super battleships, equipped with an even stronger battery of eight 510 mm guns.
American cruiser Annapolis (Supership)
The heavy cruisers designed during World War II became the epitome of their class, making them the most formidable and powerful U.S. heavy cruisers in history. After the development of the 152 mm automatic gun, the U.S. Navy High Command placed an order for a similar gun but with a caliber of 203 mm. New cruisers were to be equipped with triple-gun turrets featuring the aforementioned 203 mm guns and fitted with a thick armored deck for protection against aerial bomb attacks. USS Des Moines conducted various diplomatic and representative missions. She was also used for training cadets and in naval exercises.

- New Ad Features
- Daily Login Rewards: Players can now earn extra rewards through ads in the Daily Login Rewards panel. Each day, a button to double your reward will appear, allowing players to watch an ad to receive additional login rewards. Ads are optional but provide extra rewards for those who engage with them.
- Mystery Crates: Players can watch ads to open Mystery Crates containing random rewards. This feature adds an element of surprise and excitement to the ad system, as players can earn various in-game items by simply watching ads. Once the ad has been played, the button will enter a cooldown period and turn gray. There is a daily limit to how many Mystery Crates can be obtained for watching ads, ensuring that the experience remains balanced.
