Turbo Strike Mode
Ready. Respawn. Dominate.
Introducing Turbo Strike, a brand-new event mode designed to crank up the chaos with high-octane battles, unique powerups, and respawn mechanics that keep the action going. Whether you're a brawler or sharpshooter, there's something wild waiting for everyone.
Core Rules
- Base Capture Gameplay: Classic domination—first to 1,000 points or full base capture wins.
- Respawns Enabled: Don’t fear the deep! Get back into the fight each time you sink beneath the waves.
- One Map: Turbo Strike launches with a dedicated battleground built for rapid-fire encounters.
Arms Race Buffs
- At regular intervals, randomized airdrop buffs spawn across the map.
- Each buff can stack up to four times.
- Secure them to gain the upper hand and push your team to victory.
Missile Feature
- Rack up three kills to unlock the Missile—a powerful, steerable strike that brings the boom.
- Missiles can be guided to a limited degree during descent for tactical takedowns.
- Enemies will be warned before impact, so use timing to your advantage!
Attribute Enhancements
- All ships receive mode-specific buffs when entering battle, based on ship type.
- Bots (Tier V–X) also enter with enhancements to keep things spicy.
- Check the ship selection panel on the mode description screen for detailed stat bonuses.
Disabled Systems
Some systems may temporarily be disabled in Turbo Strike for balance purposes (e.g., certain item effects or passive bonuses). Don’t worry—camouflage visuals remain intact, even if their effects are suspended.
Other Features
- Turbo Strike includes visual enhancements for main and secondary guns.
- Special UI descriptions help explain buff types, missile mechanics, and more.
- Auto-selection: After finishing each battle, you’ll be automatically queued for another round of Turbo Strike—no need to reselect.
New Mechanic: Variable Torpedoes
A fresh twist on torpedo gameplay enters the battlefield! Variable Torpedoes introduce a dynamic damage curve that rewards aggressive, close-range attacks.
How It Works:
- Full damage is dealt within a range of 0–6 km.
- Beyond 6 km, damage gradually decreases down to 60% at maximum range (12 km).
- This mechanic is specific to certain ships and torpedoes—most notably, French destroyers.
Information in Port:
- If a ship is equipped with Variable Torpedoes, you’ll find a clear indicator in the Ship Specialty and Ship Info panels.
- Tooltips will highlight how this system works, so you’ll always know what you’re working with.
Tactical Impact:
- Close the gap to unleash devastating strikes.
- Longer-range launches still apply pressure but with reduced potency.
- Plan your approach and adapt your tactics accordingly!
And speaking of the new mechanic...
New Techline Arrival: French Destroyers
A new line darts onto the battlefield—say "bonjour" to the French destroyers!
This release features the uneven tiers of the line:
- L'Adroit (Tier V): Great mobility with strong gun and torpedo stats—ideal for players who like prediction-based gameplay.
- Le Hardi (Tier VII) and Orage (Tier IX): Continue the line’s emphasis on burst damage and stealth, offering a high skill ceiling and strong outplay potential.
These sleek, aggressive destroyers are built for speed, stealth, and close-range burst damage, giving you the tools to control engagements and deliver decisive torpedo strikes. They will reward players who master acceleration tactics and thrive in chaotic skirmishes.
Key Feature: Variable Torpedoes
French destroyers introduce the new Variable Torpedo mechanic—torpedoes that deal full damage at close range, then gradually lose effectiveness over distance.
- 0–6 km: Full damage
- 6–12 km: Damage gradually drops to 60%
It’s a mechanic that rewards brave positioning and calculated ambushes, with real tide-turning potential if used at the right moment.
These ships shine in the hands of players who can dance around enemy lines, get in close, and escape before retaliation. They're fast, feisty, and flexible—but make no mistake, they’re not forgiving if played passively.
Key Feature: Emergency Engine Accelerator
This new line offers Emergency Engine Accelerator—a unique speed boost that increases acceleration, deceleration, and top speed by 25% for 10 seconds. From Tier VII, these ships also feature Variable Torpedoes, encouraging creative use of positioning and timing.
Supership Season: Tidal
We heard you, Captains.
After several back-to-back Supership seasons, it's time to shift gears. Maelstrom was the final Supership season for a while, giving everyone a much-needed breather—and giving us time to apply everything we’ve learned so far.
Here’s what’s coming in the next season, "Tidal":
- It kicks off in August, headlined by the debut of a new American Supership—battleship Maine.
- Tidal continues our live-balance approach, letting us gather data and feedback on Maine’s performance in real combat scenarios.
- All previously released Superships will remain available, giving you the full sandbox to experiment, compete, and dominate.
Your feedback has been instrumental—and it continues to shape the future of this feature.
Supership Matchmaking Optimization
Matchmaking just got smarter! We now have the ability to adjust Supership matchmaking settings in real time, without needing a server restart.
This means:
- We can dynamically control the tiers that Superships will face in battle.
- We can limit the number of Superships per team, improving match balance and overall gameplay experience.
These adjustments can be fine-tuned instantly based on live conditions—ensuring more consistent and competitive high-tier battles.
In 8.2, we’re updating the matchmaking rules to improve battle balance at the highest tiers.
Tier IX ships will no longer be matched with Superships (Tier XI).
This change will ensure a fairer playing field by reducing power gaps in high-tier matches. Superships will now only match with Tier X ships and other Superships, while Tier IX ships will retain their traditional range.
This adjustment should lead to more competitive and enjoyable battles for both Tier IX and Supership players.
Wargaming Account Login Update
We’ve introduced new rules for players using Wargaming accounts to log in:
- Single-account players: No changes—login works as usual.
- Multi-account players: A selection box will now appear during login.
- You’ll be able to choose which account to register for World of Warships Blitz access.
This gives multi-account users more control and clarity when linking their accounts.

New Premium Ships
Johnston – American Tier IX Destroyer
Johnston introduces the new SAP Burst Fire mechanic. Activating it shortens reload time temporarily, allowing for quick follow-up salvos—but with longer downtime afterward. This makes timing and tactical switching essential. While her SAP shells struggle against heavy armor, she compensates with a 2x5 torpedo layout; excellent mobility; and a reliable utility skill set including Smoke Generator, Sonar, and Engine Accelerator. Johnston shines when Captains balance burst pressure with positioning discipline.
Nottingham – British Tier VIII Cruiser
A dependable all-rounder, Nottingham offers balanced HE and AP shells, strong accuracy, and decent survivability. Her torpedoes aren’t her strong suit, but with the right skill combination, she becomes a versatile powerhouse with no glaring weaknesses.
Brennus – French Tier X Cruiser
Brennus is a long-range menace with excellent mobility, great dispersion, and the flexibility to switch to AP and torpedoes up close.
Wisconsin – American Tier X Battleship
This heavy hitter relies on Combat Instructions to unleash devastating bursts: land 18 hits to halve your main gun reload time for 15 seconds. Strong 406 mm guns and good penetration make her deadly with precise aiming—but low base survivability means accuracy is your lifeline.
Boise – American Tier VII Cruiser
Boise blends smoke cover with a reliable main battery, making her a solid pick for countering destroyers and holding key positions. She’s not built to tank, but her guns and utility-focused skill set let her punch well above her weight.
Hiryū '41 – Japanese Tier VIII Aircraft Carrier
A revamped version of Hiryū with shorter crew prep time and better hangar capacity. Higher fault tolerance makes her easier to pilot effectively, but careful micro is still needed to avoid wasting potential.
Bamboozled – Pan-Asian Tier X Destroyer
Bamboozled wields a powerful concealment skill, amplifying her already formidable stealth-based playstyle. Combined with Rapid Reload, Radar, and Smoke Generator, she’s more dangerous than ever—especially in the hands of experienced Captains who know when to strike and when to vanish.
Black Attilio Regolo – Italian Tier X Destroyer
This Black edition brings subtle but meaningful upgrades. She has improved rudder shift, faster gun and torpedo traverse, and a tweaked skill setup. Black Attilio now runs Fuel Smoke, Sonar, and Rapid Reload, making her even more agile and aggressive. A high-risk, high-reward ship that rewards confident play.
Maine – U.S. Supership
Maine is a super battleship with a focus on defensive Combat Instructions. After landing 18 hits, she activates a buff that increases AA damage by 30%, along with a 20% reduction to incoming damage for 20 seconds. Her 4x4 main gun layout gives her terrifying potential, but low survivability and no skill support make her fragile. Best played from mid-range with calculated aggression.
Ship Balancing
Pan-Asian Destroyers
- Hsienyang (Tier VIII)
- Added Torpedo Reload I x2
- Chung Mu (Tier IX)
- Added Torpedo Reload I x2
- Yueyang (Tier X)
- Added Torpedo Reload II x2
What’s Next?
A brand-new tutorial experience is currently in development and planned for release with the next update. Whether you’re a new recruit or returning veteran, this reimagined introduction will make it easier than ever to learn the ropes, master the basics, and dive straight into the action.
The second wave of French destroyers is approaching! Following the debut of L'Adroit, Le Hardi, and Orage, the next trio—Duchaffault (Tier VI), L'Aventurier (Tier VIII), and Cassard (Tier X)—will continue the line's fast-paced, torpedo-heavy legacy. Stay tuned for their arrival in the coming update.
A rework of the Black Ships is in the pipeline. We're taking a fresh look at this iconic fleet, with plans to enhance their gameplay mechanics. Whether you already own one or are planning to, the updates aim to make them feel more distinct and rewarding in battle.
