The way you customize your warships is changing forever. Update 9.2 introduces the first phase of the brand-new equipment system—one of the biggest progression and build customization updates ever added to World of Warships Blitz.
For years, equipment has remained largely static: install it once, then rarely think about it again. With Update 9.2, we're taking the first major step toward a deeper customization system built around meaningful choices, specialized builds, and long-term progression. Equipment now comes in multiple quality tiers, features upgrade paths, and introduces tradeoffs that encourage different playstyles rather than a single "best" setup. Whether you want to improve survivability, maximize firepower, enhance mobility, or create more specialized builds, the new system opens far more possibilities for how you prepare your ships for battle.
We know a change of this scale can feel overwhelming at first. That's why we'll be fully breaking down the new equipment system later in these patch notes, including how slots work, equipment qualities, progression, upgrades, and what to expect when logging in after the update. If you want the full details, we strongly recommend reading that next section carefully.
Beyond the equipment rework, Update 9.2 also introduces major improvements to Daily and Weekly Missions, making progression more streamlined, rewarding, and easier to complete naturally through regular gameplay. Missions no longer require manual acceptance, frustrating objectives have been removed, and new repeatable missions provide additional progression opportunities for active players.
Battle readability has also received a major upgrade. Damage numbers, ship information displays, health bars, consumable details, and overall battle UI presentation have all been refined to provide clearer combat information and a smoother gameplay experience. Players who prefer a cleaner interface can also switch to a simplified UI style directly from the settings menu.
Alongside these changes, Update 9.2 includes multiple performance optimizations aimed at improving frame rates, reducing memory usage, minimizing stuttering, and delivering a more stable experience across a wider range of devices.
This update is all about improving the core experience of the game—giving players more control over their builds, cleaner combat information, smoother progression systems, and a stronger technical foundation for future updates still to come.
Equipment Rework—Phase 1
Grab a coffee, Captain—this section is almost as massive as the equipment rework itself.
Until now, equipment in World of Warships Blitz has been relatively simple: choose an option, install it, and keep it there. With this rework, we want to introduce real decision-making into the process of building and specializing your ships. The goal is to create more variety, more long-term progression, and more room for different playstyles to exist.
This is not the final form of the system yet. Update 9.2 is the first step, while Update 9.3 will expand the system further with more equipment options and the remaining equipment slots.
What's Changing in Update 9.2?
In Update 9.2, equipment will now be organized into different quality tiers:
Standard Equipment
This is the main equipment type available in Update 9.2. Standard Equipment can be upgraded and will form the foundation of the new system.
Improved Equipment
This equipment tier, along with Bonds, will not be available in Update 9.2. These systems exist as part of the full equipment framework, but they are not launching in this phase. Bonds and Improved Equipment will remain hidden for now.
Legendary Equipment
This includes the existing Legendary Equipment and the new universal Legendary Equipment. Legendary Equipment remains a special and powerful customization option, while universal Legendary Equipment gives us more flexibility to create high-value equipment that is not limited in the same way as older ship-specific Legendary Equipment.
Equipment Upgrades
Standard Equipment can now be upgraded up to Level 3.
Enhance your installed equipment to gain stronger bonuses and get even more out of your ships. Each upgrade increases the module's effectiveness, helping you push your favorite builds even further. Improved Equipment can also be upgraded (in 9.3), while Legendary Equipment cannot be upgraded.
Equipment Slots
In Update 9.2, only the first three equipment slots will be available immediately.
Slots 4, 5, and 6 are part of the full system, but they are not launching in this phase. These slots will open later as the equipment system continues to expand.
This is important because the system is being introduced in stages. Some equipment values may look different right now because they are being balanced with the full future system in mind, not only the three-slot version launching in 9.2.
Why Some Equipment Looks Weaker Than Before
Some equipment bonuses may appear lower than what you are used to, especially for areas such as concealment and acceleration.
This is intentional, but we understand why it may feel concerning at first.
The new equipment system is being built as a complete structure across multiple updates. Update 9.2 introduces the first half of that structure, while Update 9.3 will expand it with three additional slots and around 15 to 30 new Standard Equipment options currently in development.
Because of that, we need to balance the system carefully from the start. If we make certain equipment too strong in 9.2, it could create serious balance problems once the remaining slots and new equipment are added in 9.3. Our goal is not to weaken builds for the sake of it—our goal is to make sure the full system works properly once all pieces are in place.
Tradeoffs and Build Choices
Another major change is that equipment now includes both positive and negative attributes.
This may feel different from the old system, where equipment generally only gave a direct benefit. The reason for this change is build diversity.
If every equipment option is only a pure upgrade, players will naturally find the single strongest choice and use it everywhere. By adding tradeoffs, we can create equipment that supports different playstyles without making one option automatically better than the rest.
For example, one setup may improve your firepower but reduce comfort in another area. Another may improve survivability, but at the cost of mobility or flexibility. The goal is to make equipment choices more intentional, so players can build ships around how they actually want to play them.
What Happens to Existing Equipment
When Update 9.2 goes live, all basic equipment will be automatically reclaimed at full original value when you first log in.
Legendary Equipment will be removed from ships and placed into your Inventory. This means you will not lose your Legendary Equipment, but you may need to re-check your ship builds after the update and decide how you want to set them up under the new system.
Why This Is Only Phase 1
We want to be very clear: Update 9.2 is not the complete equipment system.
This first phase introduces the new structure, the first three slots, Standard Equipment upgrades, Legendary Equipment handling, and the foundation for future expansion.
Update 9.3 will bring the system closer to its full form with:
- Three additional equipment slots
- Around 15 to 30 new Standard Equipment options
- Bonds as a currency (used for Improved Equipment)
- More build combinations
- Further balance adjustments based on live data and player feedback
The full potential of the system will become much clearer once these additional pieces are in place.
Monitoring and Balance After Release
We know this is a major change, and we will be watching it very closely.
After Update 9.2 launches, we will monitor live data, player feedback, build performance, and how the new system feels in real battles. If something performs far worse than expected, creates unhealthy balance issues, or clearly does not work as intended, we will not wait until the next major update to respond.
We will have hotfix options prepared and ready to use if needed.
This means that if a specific part of the equipment system needs urgent adjustment, players will not have to wait for Update 9.3 to see changes. We want to give the system room to breathe, but we also want to make sure it remains fair, functional, and enjoyable from the start.
Our Goal
The equipment rework is one of the biggest customization changes we have ever made to World of Warships Blitz.
Our goal is to give players more control over their ships, more reasons to experiment, and more meaningful choices when preparing for battle. Update 9.2 is the first major step toward that future, and Update 9.3 will continue building on it.
We know changes like this can take time to get used to, so we strongly encourage players to explore the system, test different setups, and share feedback with us. Your experience during this first phase will help shape how the system develops from here.
Important Note Regarding Legendary Equipment
Due to a technical limitation in Update 9.2, the Gold purchase option for Legendary Equipment has been temporarily removed from the ship Equipment interface itself. Inside the Equipment menu, players will currently only see the Free XP option when viewing Legendary Equipment.
However, for the full duration of Update 9.2, Legendary Equipment modules that are normally available for Gold can still be purchased through a dedicated category in the Shop.
This is a temporary issue and will be fully resolved in Update 9.3, where the Gold purchase option will return directly to the Equipment interface as intended.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Will lower-tier ships have fewer equipment slots than higher-tier ships?
Yes. The maximum number of equipment slots available depends on ship tier.
In Update 9.2, all ships start with Slots 1–3 available, while additional slots could be unlocked in the future. Higher-tier ships can ultimately access more equipment slots than lower-tier ships.
As a general rule:
- Tier I–III ships can access up to 3 equipment slots
- Tier IV–V ships can access up to 4 equipment slots
- Tier VI–VII ships can access up to 5 equipment slots
- Tier VIII–X ships can access all 6 equipment slots
- Will Equipment costs vary depending on ship tier?
Yes. Lower-tier ships will generally have lower Silver costs than higher-tier ships.
This is intended to keep the system accessible at all tiers while ensuring progression costs remain appropriate for the economy of each ship tier.
- Will lower-tier ships have access to fewer equipment options than higher-tier ships?
No. The equipment system is designed so that lower-tier ships have access to the same equipment options relevant to their class and slot configuration as higher-tier ships.
The primary difference between tiers is cost, not functionality.
- Will there be any difference between the equipment across different ship tiers?
No. Equipment statistics do not scale based on ship tier.
An equipment piece provides the same bonuses regardless of whether it is installed on a lower-tier or higher-tier ship. The only difference between tiers is the cost associated with obtaining, upgrading, or managing that equipment.
- Will this new system make lower-tier ships stronger or weaker?
The goal of the equipment rework is not to buff or nerf lower-tier ships, but to provide players with more meaningful customization options across all tiers.
Lower-tier ships will benefit from the same flexibility and build variety introduced by the new system, while maintaining overall balance within their respective matchmaking environments.
- Will players be able to remove and move equipment between ships?
Standard Equipment cannot be stored in your Inventory. When removed from a ship, it must be sold back for Silver at the applicable sell ratio. If you wish to use that equipment again later, a new copy will need to be acquired.
Daily and Weekly Mission System Update
Daily and Weekly Missions have been reworked in Update 9.2 to make progression smoother, more flexible, and easier to complete through normal gameplay.
Missions no longer require manual acceptance—if a mission appears in your panel, it's already active. We've also removed objectives tied to destroying specific ship types, as well as Daily Missions requiring team play, making progression feel less restrictive regardless of how you prefer to play.
The Daily Mission system now uses Activity Points, earned by completing missions and unlocking rewards at:
- 20 Points
- 50 Points
- 120 Points
A new repeatable Daily Mission has also been added, allowing active players to continue earning additional Activity Points beyond the standard mission lineup.
Players with Premium Account now receive a 30% bonus to Activity Points earned from Daily Missions.
Weekly Missions have also been streamlined. The system now automatically assigns three parallel Weekly Missions that can immediately be progressed and completed without manual acceptance.
Mission refresh options for Daily Missions remain available through ads or Gold.
Both Daily and Weekly Mission progress now reset together with their respective Activity Point values:
- Daily Missions reset at 00:00 server time
- Weekly Missions reset every Saturday at 00:00 server time
The goal of these changes is simple: less menu management, fewer frustrating objectives, and more natural progression simply by playing battles.
Battle UI Optimization
Update 9.2 introduces a major readability and presentation update for the battle interface, focused on making combat information clearer, cleaner, and easier to understand during intense engagements.
Damage numbers have been fully refreshed with improved visuals and smoother animations, making hits feel more impactful and easier to read in real time.
The ship information interface has also been redesigned with:
- Improved positioning and overall layout
- Exact numerical HP values displayed on health bars
- A new ship distance indicator
- Cleaner and more readable visual styling
For players who prefer a less crowded interface, a new simplified UI style can now be enabled directly from the Settings menu.
We've also added a new press-and-hold function for ship skills and consumables. During battle, players can now hold the corresponding icon to instantly view detailed information about that skill or consumable without leaving the action.
The goal of these changes is to improve combat clarity, reduce visual friction, and make important battle information easier to access at a glance.

What's Next?
With Update 9.2 now in your hands, our attention is already turning toward Update 9.3—and there's plenty more on the horizon.
The equipment system introduced in 9.2 is only the first phase of a much larger vision. In Update 9.3, the system will be fully expanded with additional equipment slots, new equipment options, and the remaining features needed to complete the rework. As always, we'll continue closely monitoring player feedback, battle data, and build performance to make adjustments where needed along the way.
We're also preparing one of the most requested quality-of-life improvements in WoWS Blitz history: the ability to immediately enter a new battle after your ship has been destroyed. No more waiting for the current battle to end before getting back into the action—simply continue fighting with your next ship.
Update 9.3 will also introduce new ship destruction effects, bringing more visual flair and impact to the final moments of battle. Whether you're delivering the finishing blow or watching an enemy warship meet her fate, battles will feel more dynamic than ever before.
And of course, that's not all. More equipment choices, additional customization options, new content, and further quality-of-life improvements are already in development as we continue building the future of World of Warships Blitz.
The journey doesn't stop here, Captain. We'll see you in Update 9.3!
